The Big 3-0 and and an even Bigger Surprise!

Two weeks ago my wonderful husband celebrated his 30th birthday!!! I have to say this was more difficult for me than him. For him it was just another day. For me this meant that I have a husband in his 30's!!!!! I'm only in my mid 20's!! WTF???? I mean he was 25 when we met and started dating. I wasn't even allowed to go into the bar we were at yet!!! Yes I was only 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose the hardest part was that I felt this meant we were no longer young. I mean with each passing year it gets harder and harder on me because I guess I'm just not ready to admit I'm no longer a real college aged kid who has no responsiblities or any thing anymore. It's a lot harder to admit that I have bills, a mortgage, dogs, groceries and gas to buy. ON MY OWN!!! I just have to say I so miss the days where mom and dad paid for all that. BLAH!

But anyways we decided to invite Adam's parents and grandparents up for his 30th. We thought it'd be really fun to have them here to celebrate such a milestone plus we had a little surprise to tell them(get to that in a minute).

We also invited his brother and his girlfriend, my parents and my sister and her bf. Our first challenge was finding a menu because it was a friday and it was lent which meant NO MEAT! now for most this may not be a big deal but for my husband the carnivore this was quite the challenge! he loooooves meat and really wanted spaghetti and meatballs but obviously that was out of the question. So he got some shrimp at cost at work and we decided on shrimp carbonara. We used Giada's recipe from my cookbook but obviously with some substitutions.

I had talked with my mom earlier in the day and she was having some staffing issues at her new job and she wasn't sure she was going to be able to make it. I was really upset about this and had to guilt her into being there. I mean we had a huge surprise to reveal and she NEEDED to be there and plus how could she miss her son in law's 30th!!!

Well finally my mom got there at about 7:30 and dinner was almost ready. Well as I said we had a surprise to reveal so we wanted to do it before dinner. So once mom got here we had a gift in a bag to give each set of parents. I had mom go stand with dad and adams parents sit together. I told them it was the same thing and they had to open them together.  In the bag I had this:
Reads: Everytime a Child is born, grandparents are too. So this is my first picture grandma and grandpa just for you.

The picture inside was this:

Baby Chafin 9 weeks 1 day
Needless to say it took them all a minute to react. I was more concentrating on my parents. I saw them reading it and all of the sudden mom makes this shocked face and says "wait are you?" I started to cry and say "yes I'm 10 weeks 3 days!" She immediately ran over to me and gave me a hug. My dad was just smiling from ear to ear (he doesn't have much emotion). Adam's mom was in tears and so was I. I was so excited to FINALLY have this huge secret off my chest!  The rest of the evening was dedicated to baby chafin and announcing his arrival to all grandparents, aunts, uncles and the like.

So Adam's 30th birthday was the day that we told our parents that they both would FINALLY have a grandbaby. This is the first for both sides of the family. Adam and I are completely thrilled!!! We feel so blessed to be able to have gotten pregnant and are even more excited about what is to come! I will blog about how we found out and all that tomorrow. I'm just tired now ::imagine that::  Good Night!!!
