YAY 3rd trimester!!!

Week of JULY 19th  Happy Birthday Alley!!

28 weeks 1 day
after a LONG day at work :(
How Far Along? 28 weeks, YAY 3rd Trimester (sorry for the day late post, it was a long day yesterday)

Due Date:  October 11th

Total weight gain/loss: not quite sure but I'm betting between 24-30

Maternity Clothes? yup and I love them. I love the spandex I got and tank tops. They are a life saver in this heat!!

Stretch Marks? Yup and I hate them more than anything. And I swear I get more each week. It's uber depressing

Sleep?  What a funny joke!

Best Moment of this Week?  My baby shower this weekend. I have the best and most generous family ever! We got all sorts of goodies for baby, it is becoming more and more real as we look at all the fun stuff we got. Also not baby related, we got a new (to us) grill from my parents friends, and I passed my first exam in my leadership clinical.
I have a worst moment of the week too: Finding out I failed my 1 hour glucose tolerance test. You have to be under 140, I was 142 and I SWEAR she drew it early!!! UGGG now I have to go get the 3 hr one! I'm so bummed, but please pray I DON'T have Gestational Diabetes!!!

Movement? Still moving but I swear I freak myself out over it. I have several friends who are preggo and they say they feel their babies move all the time. Either I'm too busy to notice or my baby is just not as active. It really makes me worried sometimes. I still feel little one at least 10 times a day, but I heard you're supposed to feel them like 5x an hour. and I know there are times where I'll go several hours without feeling him/her. I freak myself out so much over it that I'm convinced my baby is handicaped. How retarded am I?? I guess it's just my worst fears coming to play.

Food cravings? The only thing I craved was white bean hummus from Houlihans

Food aversions? nope

Gender? I'm still keeping you guessing, today I'm indifferent on the sex. I don't know

Labor Signs?  Contractions still happening daily. but at less frequent intervals, they are getting more intense though.

There is definitely a baby bump there

Belly Button In or Out? Still in and I really don't think it's going to pop out, but I think I found a stretch mark on it...dang it!

What I miss? no stretch marks

What I am looking forward to: My final weekend off before graduation!!!!!! HOLY COW! Plus I have a dear friend getting married and my cousins little girls 2nd birthday party. it's going to be a busy weekend, if I make it out of these next 2 days of work alive.

What I'm NOT looking forward to is the 3 hour glucose test on Saturday morning. I have to do it then because its the only day I have off until Aug 6th! and so I have to get up super early on my only day to sleep in to go get it because I have to leave around 1 to go to my friends wedding. BLAHHHHHHHHHH

Size of the Baby:

Baby's now the size of an eggplant!
Baby's lungs are mature enough that, if born right now, she has a pretty good chance of surviving (with help from medical technology). Her skin is still pretty wrinkly (one byproduct of living in amniotic fluid) but will smoothen as fat continues to deposit.

Baby Nursery Part 1

**Warning it's a longer post, but a lot is pictures**

In deciding to start a family, I really honestly thought it would take several months to get the timing right, and all that. God had other plans for us and it happen MUCH quicker than I anticipated.

We planned it so that I could finish nursing school before baby arrived. What I didn't think about was that all of my spare time (haha that has to be a joke) would have to be devoted to cleaning out my "catch all" room, that would be the baby's nursery. When we moved in I always knew this one room would be the nursery. However I also knew it'd be YEARS before we'd have a baby to fill it with so I used it as my catch all. Anything and EVERYTHING I didn't immediately know what to do with was thrown into this room!

I also always knew that Classic Winnie the Pooh would be my theme since I wouldn't be finding out the sex. Luckily I have a wonderful friend who also happens to be an amazing artist. So we always said that when the time came she would paint a mural on the wall. Well unfortunately what we didn't plan on was that when the time came she would live in Florida!!

Timing being a huge issue of when she could come and paint the mural meant that I had to get my butt into high gear and CLEAN OUT the messiest room in my house! She gave me all of a 2 week warning of when she was coming into town. I thought I had more time to prepare but ended up not.

So here is what I started with...

view looking into the room. See what I mean with the mess
EVERYWHERE!!!

eek!

I struggled to find a place for all the books!

All the furniture was mine from growing up and I emptied out each and every drawer, got rid of lots of spare papers, and got a new bookcase that went in the basement to store everything. I moved all of the white furniture except the day bed into our spare bedroom. It actually looks rather nice in there. But after 3 full 6+ hour days devoted to cleaning, and moving the furniture all by myself (yes I got yelled at for this but Adam is never home, what was I supposed to do???) Here was my finished product
A completely bare room!

WOW, It was spotless

the other part of my motivation was to see what the crib looked like up
So after all of this, I had to have my dad come over and paint the ceiling. I know it sounds weird but if you were to get paint on the ceiling when painting the walls, I couldn't fix it. (this happened when I did my kitchen and living room). The color that was up there wasn't anything I could figure out and the company that built our house went under and I couldn't get a hold of them to ask. So the next solution was to paint the ceiling. After that it was picking a paint color...

I started out getting samples of each of these, but didn't love
any of them

so I got a couple more and ended up choosing the far right one.
It was very hard for this decoratingly challenged person to pick a color, but I have to say I LOVE the color I picked even though it seems to be a trend in my house to paint a room green...

After painting the room green, two days later Vina came over to start and finish the mural. We originally wanted several little "pictures" on the wall but since I didn't know what other furniture I would have or where I would put it, we stuck with just the one and then she is going to canvas paintings for the rest...

Day 1 and the tree was painted

Day 2 she put the picture up

the finished picture. It's from the book Tiggers don't climb trees!
I absolutely LOVE this mural. She did an AMAZING job and I couldn't be happier with it. It truly looks amazing and I'm so excited to finish everything.

Since she left we've also gotten our dresser and glider. We got them both on sale at Babies R Us!!! I was so thrilled about this! The dresser is bigger than I anticipated so it's hard to figure out where to put everything and I can't get a bookcase like I once thought but thats ok, the room has a walk-in closet so maybe I can do something creative in there.
The view as you walk in the room

Can't wait to see baby when I open the door!

The only spot I could think of to put the glider, the ottoman is
off to the side for now...
Over all the room is coming together nicely. We just need our mattress, and bedding. And since I'm the pickiest person ever I couldn't find a bedding I liked so my wonderful Aunt is MAKING me my bedding!!! YAY! I can't wait to see what she comes up with! She is so talented and creative! It's going to be awesome!

ok so there is the nursery up to this point. Now I just have to find a spot for all this baby stuff, and finish up some little decorating things! I'm really getting excited and less stressed out about this whole process!!

We got SPOILED!

yesterday was our first baby shower (me and baby L). And let me tell you our family spoiled us ROTTEN!!! We got lots of essential baby items and now I'm just trying to figure out where to store them!!!

My wonderfully amazing sister threw me an amazing shower with all my family! For me it feels like a rare occasion when I can see any of them, so to have all of them there in one place was awesome. Plus I have to admit I love all the rubbing on my belly because it makes me feel like my little one is already so loved. They say you can't choose your family, but if you could I'd choose the ones I have. I truly have the best family. They are all so loving, and generous and make me feel so special every time we are together! Everyone should have a family like mine!

I just have to start off by saying that my sister really set the bar high. I have a lot to live up to one day! Geesh! The food was fabulous and all home made by her, but I have to say my favorite were the desserts, she made cheesecake bites and cake balls! She swears she'll never make the cake balls again, but they were ohhhh so yummy! I probably gained 10 lbs eating all of them!

She had everyone decorate onesies for baby, and a couple of cloth diapers! Then we played this wives tale game, and I have to say I had more girls than boy, but still everyone there thinks I'm having a boy. Not sure if thats because we are a family of strictly girl great grandkids or what...

The only thing that sucks is that I have no pictures from the actual shower. SADNESS! but here are a few pictures of all the fun stuff we got! :)

our Lamb seat for baby!!
Thanks Schallers!!

our Lamb Swing!
I'm sooo excited about this!
My Aunts and cousins are awesome!!!

We displayed my weekly belly pictures.
Even I have to admit it's kind of cool to see the changes!

All our fun baby stuff!!!

We got everything from bath toys, to car seat and blankets!

We even got most of our bottles!!! I'm overwhelmed by the
generosity!

I also got 2 Vera Bradley diaper bags!!! How ever will I choose???
I am truly overwhelmed by my familys overwhelming love and support in their amazing gifts to me and baby. I feel so blessed to have each and every one of them in my life!

27 weeks

Week of JULY 12th

How Far Along? 27 weeks!!!!
27 weeks 1 day

Due Date:  October 11th

Total weight gain/loss: not quite sure how much this week.

Maternity Clothes? yup and I love them. Got a bunch more today, I was tired of the same 5 shirts and 2 shorts!

Stretch Marks? Yup and I hate them more than anything.

Sleep?  I've worked A LOT the last week so I think I've been too exhausted to notice the sleep thing

Best Moment of this Week?  Last wednesday I as laying in bed and the baby was moving like crazy I lifted my shirt up and you could see the baby making waves across my belly. Luckily Adam was next to me and could see it. It was seriously the coolest thing! Also we now have all the furniture we will get into the baby's room. Our glider and ottoman came in this week. So i'll make a nursery post later. :) this is a huge weight off my shoulders!!!

Movement? Still moving, but not so much the last 2 days which is nerve wracking. I scrubbed my kitchen floors on monday and was terrified that the fumes killed the baby. But I don't know if I was just too busy to notice the movement or what. But the baby has moved a little bit the past few days. I'm still a bit nervous about the cleaning products. I really hope I didn't do any harm to the baby. It was just pinesol and there was no one else to do the cleaning, what else was I supposed to do???

Food cravings? nope...not really

Food aversions? nope

Gender? I'm still keeping you guessing, today I'm indifferent on the sex. I don't know

Labor Signs?  Contractions still happening daily. but at less frequent intervals, they are getting more intense though.
damn stretch marks. sorry if you're offended by them
I can't do anything about it.

Belly Button In or Out? Still in and I really don't think it's going to pop out

What I miss? having skinny days, honestly I feel like a house!

What I am looking forward to: my first baby shower this weekend! I decided to separate the baby showers since my one bridal shower was 95 people. So this weekend is the family one. I know its a little early but it's seriously the only weekend Aunt Stacie was available and so thats why. But I'm super excited to see all my family and have them love on my little one!!

Size of the Baby:

Baby's now the size of an eggplant!
Baby's lungs are going through some major developments these days, which (combined with the opening of previously plugged nostrils) means he's now able to practice inhaling and exhaling. The lack of air in your womb means every "breath" is filled with amniotic fluid, but hey -- it's progress.
