Landon is EIGHT!!!

Wow oh wow, my baby (well I guess not technically anymore) boy is EIGHT!!! I just looked back and it looks like I posted his yearly post last year at this same time....well i'm nothing if not consistent. 😉

I can't believe another year has gone by with my "baby boy" I don't know why but I have such a hard time with the fact that Landon gets older. He is just so different from who he was as a 2-3 year old. He still has his zest for life and this beautiful way he looks at the world but he's also just so different. In a lot of ways his personality changed but he still has this unbelievably sweet soul that I just can't get enough of.

I really miss Landon being small. He was such my little buddy. He loved me so fiercely and was always by my side. He still loves me but he also is more independent which of course is a good thing but I still miss my little boy. I think just overall I am struggling with these kids getting bigger and the fact that they won't need me.

Landon,

I really can't believe you're EIGHT!! You are one of the sweetest souls there ever was. You make my heart soar with pride and happiness everyday. You have a deep love for your family and God and it makes me so proud to see you grow in your faith.

You don't tend to love to do work around the house, you'd much rather be playing on your tablet or a phone you undoubtably stole from someone. You love your video games more than anything. You don't seem to have a love for trains like you used to. You have traded that obsession with anything world war related, both WWI and WWII. You can recite facts about both wars that is just astonishing.

This year you have finally started sleeping on your own. I say that lightly because although you don't come into my room every night and you don't require your dad or I to be next to you every night, you do sleep next to Lorelai nearly every night, and if its not Lola it's Lincoln. You definitely do not like sleeping alone and at least you have an abundance of siblings to allow that to happen.

You remain a pretty picky eater. I look forward to the day that you will stop judging food by the look of it and at least try it with an open mind. But you're slowly getting better.

You truly have such an amazingly positive outlook on almost everything. It takes a lot to get you down and even when that does happen you bounce back fairly quickly. You make life so much more fun because you have such a wonderful way of looking at it. You truly are and amazing little boy.

starting 2nd grade!!!

EIGHT YEARS OLD

This emulates Landon perfectly!

such an amazing big brother

My birthday boys!!!

Landon you are such a gem! I'm so grateful you are ours. You have a light and zest for life that is unmatched. You are so much fun! You test me regularly and make me question everything but I always come out a better mama and person because of you. The way you look at life is truly a gift and I wish everyone had just a little bit of your confidence and outlook. This world is a better place because of you! I'm so proud to be your mama!!

Love you my sweet boy! Happy 8th birthday!!

Landon is SEVEN

OH my sweet precious BABY boy is 7. Holy cow. This kid has grown so much and it's so hard to believe at times!!! Landon has always been a bigger kid/baby/toddler what have you, always in the 90+ percentile. But this year I finally see it. He is HUGE!!! (he's l.5 inches taller than Lincoln was at 7!!!) He is growing into such a sweet, spunky little person. He is so smart, kind, gentle but has quite the temper on him.

I've said this for many years and it continues to be true, the way this kid loves me, is the way that every person deserves to feel loved at some point in their lives. It's really actually hard to put into words what this kid does for my soul. Each one of my kids brings me so much joy and in all sorts of different ways. But Landon is just so happy and its infectious. He can almost always find the joy and beauty in every situation. This year has been hard with Covid. And besides trying to get him to do his elearning this past spring he is just such a joy. He will always come up to me and tell me he loves me, he gives me so many hugs and kisses and I just love it.

If I have one complaint, and its really minor in the scheme of things, is that the child will not sleep on his own AT ALL. He STILL comes into my room nightly and most of the time Adam just ends up in his bed with him. (the boys have bunk beds and Linc sleeps on the top bunk {its a twin} and Adam and Lando sleep on the bottom {its a full}) But if one of the other kids need something because they wake up in the middle of the night he almost immediately gets up! I love the snuggles, bc he's getting so big and I know those times will become further and further apart, but this mama doesn't sleep well and I need a good nights sleep every once in a while. But for the most part I try to keep in mind that this time is fleeting but it's been 5 years now that he hasn't slept on his own and I'm just a bit tired...lol

Landon,

You my dear child are a gem. I'm not sure what I would do without you. You bring a smile to my face everyday. You bring me joy in my grumpiest moments. You are a bright shining star that I truly feel so grateful to get to witness. You love me and all of your family with your whole heart and its a joy to watch you grow. You still march to your own drum and really don't care what anyone thinks of you. Your confidence is inspiring and I love watching it soar.

You do have quite a temper on you and can get quite upset when things don't go your way, but the best way to get you out of it is for me to wrap you in the biggest bear hug and you nearly immediately succumb to my hug and start your ever infectious giggle.

You are still my PICKIEST eater EVER!!! I will say this DRIVES ME NUTS! You really only like chicken, but it has to be with ranch, potatoes in most forms and all the carbs you can get your hands on. You have developed this nasty little habit of sneaking food and I've got to break you of it!! You love your sweets, and your ice cream (clearly you get that from both your parents) but you are trying to start trying new things and one thing you like is sushi of all things! You won't eat tacos but you'll eat sushi....i'll never understand you.

Landon I love you so much and am so grateful I got chosen to be your mom. You make me so proud!

Landon you changed my life for the better when you came into this world. God broke the mold when he created you, and he blessed me immeasurably by allowing me to be your mom. It's a joy to know you, love you and watch you grow. I pray you never lose you zest for life, or you love of all people, and Jesus. You are perfect the way you are and I could not possibly love you more!

Love,
Mom

Landon is 4

My sweet little side kick is 4. Every year I'm just amazed at how fast the year goes and I can't believe how big Landon is already...truly he grew so much, just wait! It truly feels like yesterday that I was loving on his sweet cheeks and beautifully yummy thighs but each year with him gets sweeter and sweeter.

Landon you continue to be a beautiful little soul who is sweet, loving, wild and mischievous. You have a self confidence that is so awesome to witness. Your confidence in being you is wonderful and I hope to continue to facilitate it as you grow. You are all boy and constantly on the go. You run around constantly and are always into something.

You have really surprised me in your role as big brother this year. I've really enjoyed watching you grow and embrace your role. You are so much fun and you and Lorelai have really grown in your relationship. You were and still are so excited to have become a big brother once again to Lynlie. One of my favorite memories will always be how you laid in my lap while I was in labor, yelling at my belly for the baby to get out You always want to hold her and help me with whatever she needs. And of course you and Lincoln continue to have a wonderful bond and friendship that I hope continues to grow for years to come.

You started your first year of preschool, and I have to tell you that I miss you terribly when you're gone. You seem to love school and getting to do something on your own. You love to learn, and are doing a great job learning your letters, how to hold a pencil and everything in school.

You love all things boy, trucks, dirt and just laughing. My day with you isn't complete if you haven't belly laughed, gave me a huge hug and kiss and I haven't had to clean the dirt from your fingers.

You learned how to ride your bike this summer and while you don't love the outdoors quite like Lincoln, you do enjoy being outside to of course play in the mud and dirt. You're taking swim lessons and have really excelled and moved up 4 times!! Mama is so proud of you!!

You continue to come into my room to sleep with me EVERY night. I really think  there has only been 1-2 nights where you've slept through the night, but Daddy and I have worked out a system so that mommy can still get some sleep, when I was pregnant I was ready for you to sleep in your own bed, but I have to admit that now I really enjoy it and am not all that ready for you to stay in your room full time...maybe 1-2 nights a week would be nice, but I'll still relish it while I can.

Landon you are truly a joy to parent. You made all my dreams come true when you were born because I got to be a mama of two boys!! You're a light, a gem and a beautiful blessing!!

You've also grown so much this year, I feel like you've doubled in size.

  • You grew 4.25 inches and are now 43 inches which jumped you from the 80th% to the 97th%
  • You gained 4 pounds and are now 42 pounds and are in the 90th%

Landon we love you so much and can't wait to see what this next year holds with you.
